Baggage Check-In
At about 6:40 p.m., I arrived Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. I quickly went to the baggage check-in counter to have my baggage delivered to my stateroom.

The procedure was easy and fast – the staff only asked for my Hong Kong Identity Card for my baggage check-in 🙂

The staff then gave me a baggage card which listed my cabin room number and number of baggage. And I was ready to go to the check-in hall.

Check-In
I guess I arrived the terminal at a rather late time. The queue for check-in was not long.

The cruise company classified the check-in queue by the types of stateroom. I booked inside stateroom, so turned right and I queued up there.

When I was queuing up for check-in, I saw below stand reminding passengers to prepare their travel document in advance.

The queue was moving fast.

Finally, it was my turn! The cruise staff helped me with the check-in process. She placed my Hong Kong Identity Card inside the machine for reading my personal information. And then she selected “Scan Face” for the facial recognition which was for the security concern of the World Dream Cruise company.
I asked the staff why she was helping here with the check-in because the banner did say “Self Check-In” on it. She said that it was because passengers didn’t know how to do self check-in. For me, I guessed I would be ok to do the self check-in myself. But for older passengers, the cruise staff would help a lot for them and shorten the check-in wait time for other passengers.

The staff double checked my name on my Hong Kong Identity Card to make sure that the name on the key card (also as the board card) was correct before the key card was printed out.

My key card was printed out! How fast it was!!! I could go straight to my stateroom right after onboard the cruise ship! I appreciated the technology!

Boarding – Security Check
And then, I queued up for the security check at the terminal.

There was a banner to remind passengers that bringing outside alcoholic beverage onboard the ship is prohibited.

The queue for security check was long.

Boarding – Immigration Control
After the security check, there was signage telling you the way to Hong Kong Immigration and to the ship.

To The Boarding Gate
After going through the immigration, there was banner and signage telling passengers the direction for boarding. There was an information counter providing alcohol gel for hand cleansing and information about seasonal influenza. Once a person got sick and aboard the ship, it is possible that all passengers might get sick onboard.

And then took the escalator down to the boarding floor.

On the boarding floor, everyone went to a direction for boarding.

Cruise staff scanned passengers’ key cards before boarding gate.

Walking on the bridge.

I saw the World Dream cruise ship on the bridge.

Almost onboard the ship.

Onboard World Dream Cruise
Onboard! It’s 7: 35 p.m.

There was alcohol spray for passengers to sanitize their hands at the entrance of the ship. Again, once a person got sick and aboard the ship, it is possible that all passengers might get sick onboard. And the the whole cruising will be spoiled by the sickness! 😦

Cruise staff welcomed passengers. At the same time, they provided passengers with the instruction for the direction to appropriate cabin (as shown on the key card).

Maritime Safety – Life Jacket Demonstration
The “Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS)” includes lifesaving on a cruise ship. There was safety announcement. And the cruise staff demonstrated how to wear a life jacket at certain venues of the cruise ship at 9:00 p.m. (before sailing). I was at the Bar 360 located on the lobby’s floor. And I saw below demonstration conducted by the cruise staff there.
The demonstration didn’t last long. I would say it’s simple and easy to understand. However, it is very important to know how to wear a life jacket in the event of emergency. The life jackets will be handed to passengers as they arrive at their appropriate Assembly Stations.
